Community-Based Program Spend an outing-a-week together, at your home or in the community, doing recreational, cultural and educational activities.
Pictured at right are newly matched Steve and Matthew. More Bigs are needed to be matched with Waiting List Kids.
Bigs in Schools Meet for 1-2 hours a week, in local elementary and middle schools, during the school year to play board games, help with homework, go outside, talk and laugh. This program takes place during the school day or after school, from 3:00-4:00pm, depending on the school. High school and college students, as well as local businesses and retirees, can participate!
Bigs Plus This program strengthens Bigs in Schools matches by expanding the amount of time Bigs spend with their Littles, meeting for additional hours, off school grounds.
Campus Pals University of Mary Washington college students meet on campus with their “pals” once a week during the school year.
Pictured on the left are some of the beautiful creations made on Campus Pals Pottery Day at Kids 'n Clay on Sunday, March 30.
Mentoring Children of Prisoners Mentors youth in PD16 who have an incarcerated parent. This project is funded by a grant from the US Department of Health & Human Services.
Bigs for a Day Businesses, civic organizations, religious, and school organizations can host a group activity for our kids on the waiting list.
Intergenerational Program Mentors 50 and older are matched with kids in our service area, and they function like community-based matches.
Big Hearts Volunteers help in the office and/or with group activities for matches and agency fundraising events.
Sports Buddies A community-based program in which Bigs and Littles concentrate their activities on sports and physical fitness, including working out, talking about healthy lifestyle and nutrition, spending time outdoors, playing sports and attending sporting events.
